    Radiation Oncology Institute's inaugural publication awards honor radiation oncology researchers

    The Radiation Oncology Institute (ROI) announced today the winners of its inaugural publication awards, which recognize research on the value of radiation therapy for improving cancer outcomes. The winning articles are available online in Advances in Radiation Oncology, the open-access clinical research journal of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO).

    ROI announces inaugural publication awards for radiation oncology research

    The Radiation Oncology Institute (ROI) invites researchers to submit their work for its inaugural publication awards, which will recognize studies focused on the comparative value of radiation therapy (RT) in an effort to improve cancer outcomes while slowing the growth of health care spending. Proposals are due March 1, 2017, and finalists’ papers will be published in a special issue of Advances in Radiation Oncology in September 2017.

    ROI announces winners of innovative research projects in radiation oncology awards

    The Radiation Oncology Institute (ROI) has selected two promising, early career researchers to receive a total of nearly $100,000 for research on how physicians can use the real-time monitoring and feedback capability of smart technologies to improve outcomes for cancer patients. The two winners of ROI’s 2016 Innovative Projects in Radiation Oncology grant awards were recently recognized at the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) 58th Annual Meeting in Boston.

    Innovative research projects in radiation oncology invited for Radiation Oncology Institute seed funding initiative

    Researchers with novel ideas for high-risk, high-reward projects are encouraged to apply for the Radiation Oncology Institute’s (ROI) Innovative Projects in Radiation Oncology program, which will award grants of up to $50,000 to multiple projects that address the highest impact research questions for the field. Proposals are due in July, with awards to be announced in September.

    Radiation Oncology Institute offers $200,000 in grants to support big data research on quality improvement in radiation therapy

    The Radiation Oncology Institute (ROI) encourages researchers to apply for competitive grants totaling $200,000 over two years for projects that leverage the unique opportunities afforded by advances in “big data” analytics in radiation oncology. Letters of intent are due in July, with awards to be announced in December.

    ROI awards grants to Drs. David Sher and Anand Shah for projects to examine the comparative value of radiation therapy

    The Radiation Oncology Institute (ROI) has selected David J. Sher, MD, MPH, an associate professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Texas—Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, and Anand Shah, MD, MPH, a post-doctoral residency fellow in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Columbia University Medical Center in New York to receive grants for their projects to examine the comparative value of radiation therapy (RT), in response to ROI’s Request for Proposals (RFP) issued earlier this year. Sher’s project is titled "Comparative value of transoral surgery and radiation for oropharynx cancer," and Shah’s project is titled "Economic evaluation of SBRT versus surgery for stage I non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)."
